I couldn't help but think of one of my favorite quotes as I spent a quiet morning documenting the Cavanagh family's morning routine. Clementine and J, high-school sweethearts turned lifelong partners, built themselves a tiny house shortly after they welcomed their firstborn into the world. What the house lacks in size, it makes up for in coziness, color, and simple pleasures: a reading nook roomy enough for the whole family (including their trusty dog), a bright, airy loft, and a kitchen filled with only with what they find regularly useful and aesthetically pleasing. Since the Cavanaghs just welcomed their daughter Ollie into the family, this shoot was a little extra sweet as I got to capture her big brother, Sterling, adapt to his new role.
Photographing families in their own homes offers a level of individuality and heart that just can't be captured anywhere else, and I'm so excited to share I'll be opening bookings for in-home family portraits in May. (It's never too early to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you're interested as I'll only be taking ten sessions during the summer months!) Check back soon for more details, and more in-home sessions!
